En ella Sun Tzu explica al detalle los preparativos previos a la guerra: estrategias de engaño, disposición de las tropas en el campo de batalla, armamento necesario, carros de combate, etcétera. Cómo poder llegar a vencer al enemigo sin tener que desempeñarse al enfrentamiento cara a cara: simplemente imponiendo una moral dominante, infundiendo el miedo al enemigo para así lograr el planteamiento central del libro: “poder vencer sin llegar a la batalla”.
